Warm water temps. have the fish on the feed!! From fly fishing for bonefish on the oceanside flats to snook and redfish out in the backcountry the fishing has been on fire!!\ Bonefishing this week has been good with the warm water and good visability that we have had. Big schools of small and medium sized fish have been schooled up and "mudding" in the deeper water. Fly's,small jigs and live shrimp will get the bite but as usuall with these shallow water speedsters the cast must be "on target". Once hooked, their speed is amazing and the reward is high! A true trophy no matter what size they are!! Out in the backcountry the redfishing is still going strong with plenty of fish up on the flats during higher tides and in the ditches when the tide falls. These fish will respond well to flys, spoons, soft jerk baits,etc.. Often in grassy or muddy water, you must present your offering close enough for the fish to be able to see or feel it. Once hooked, they fight all the way to the boat! While not known for long runs they are real bull dogs. The tarpon have been a little "iffy" for me lately. I think with this weeks warming, calmer weather conditions they will start to show up again in the backcountry. Last week I found them back in the everglades in pretty good numbers, but then last weekends cold front came through and they disappeared. Once they move up again it should be tarpon heaven till the next front!! While fly fishing for these backcountry fish is often the best way to get the bite, I will also use large plugs and soft plastics. Watching one of these giants(over 100lbs) hit your lure has got to be the best 20 seconds in fishing!! Feel free to call with any questions. Capt. Randy
